We learn from our environment,,,ex.. see birds fly, made planes with wings!?

Now our earth is protected with a shield, the O zone,,it keeps air from escaping destroyes small rocks that fall in.Is it possible for us to take our Ozone layer properties and create something similar? to shield our cities for example or even shield the moon and make it habitable?? are there studies in progress? if not why??
