If the umptions for a statistical test are not mentioned does that mean they weren't checked?

In scientific articles researchers don't always mention checking all the umptions of data for certain statistical test, such as an ANOVA, MANOVA, Multiple Regression, etc. By umptions I mean multicollinearity, normality, scedasticity, etc. Is this due mainly to lack of space in the journal, lack of competence in the researcher, or is it just because people ume that these umptions are checked and they don't feel the need to mention them?
