I believe I would use a little different terminology. Instead of purpose, I would start with - My objective is to explain the causes of crime. The next thing I would do is drop many of the " I's" . It is your paper we know it is you. So next I would say - The topic brings up many facts as well as speculations. My resources for my research are ( name of book ) and the Internet. Crime is .........
